If you have looked into the subject of breast augmentation, you will certainly have come across autologous fat transfer – so-called lipofilling. Fat is suctioned from zones of the body with excess fat and used for breast augmentation. Through tiny access points we introduce it into the pectoral muscle and thereby create a natural implant with a lasting effect.
Because the tissue is saturated with autologous fat during the procedure, the amount that can be transferred is limited: about 60 per cent of the transferred fat remains, which corresponds to roughly half a cup size to one cup size per session. If you want more breast volume afterwards, the procedure can be repeated.
You gain twice over: at the donor region – often the abdomen, waist or thighs – the contour becomes slimmer while the breast gains volume. At our practice clinic in Oldenburg we therefore frequently combine lipofilling with a 360° liposuction.
As early as the preparatory consultation with advice, detailed information about risks and an examination, we plan the operation together. Our aim is to respond to your wishes as well as possible before the procedure and to determine, mark and document the suction areas.
On the day of the operation, which we carry out in our own rooms, you are scheduled in such a way that long waiting times are avoided. I will then go through what we discussed with you once more and repeat the markings. Our nursing and anaesthesia team will look after you. After the procedure you can usually leave our clinic accompanied by your loved ones. On request we offer an overnight stay with nursing care.
With breast augmentation using autologous fat we work with your own body's resources and do without a foreign body such as breast augmentation with an implant entails. The method can be combined with an implant in order to provide more natural volume above the implant – hybrid breast augmentation. One thing to bear in mind: like any other fat in the body, the transferred fat is subject to weight fluctuations, and several sessions are needed for larger increases in volume. Bruising and so-called oil cysts are also possible – encapsulated fat that the body has not accepted, which can be treated in a minimally invasive way.
Whether autologous fat is enough for the result you want or an implant is the more sensible route can only be said after an examination. We advise you honestly on both routes and on the combination. Arrange a consultation appointment at our practice clinic.
Fat is suctioned from zones with excess fat, prepared and introduced through tiny access points into the pectoral muscle and the deep layers of the skin. This creates a natural implant made of your own body tissue – without a foreign body.
About half a cup size to one cup size per session. During the procedure the tissue is saturated with autologous fat, so the amount is limited. About 60 per cent of the transferred fat remains permanently.
Yes. If you want more volume afterwards, the autologous fat transfer can be repeated once the fat has taken.
Because pressure interferes with the transferred fat taking. After 7 days of taping you wear a sports bra until the end of the 6th week. Compression belongs only on the suction area, not on the breast.
Yes. The transferred fat behaves like any other fat in the body – it increases when you gain weight and decreases when you lose weight. A stable weight keeps the result constant.
Autologous fat looks very natural and requires no foreign body, but is limited in volume. An implant achieves the desired size immediately but brings issues such as capsular fibrosis and a later exchange with it. Anyone wanting to combine the two chooses hybrid breast augmentation.
As a rule no; the procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis and you can go home accompanied. On request we offer an overnight stay with nursing care at our practice clinic.
The price depends on the extent and number of suction areas, the desired volume and a possible second session. After the first consultation you receive a fixed cost estimate; financing and payment by instalments are possible.
