Body Lift

Body Lift

What is a body lift and when is it performed?

After massive weight loss, the lower body often shows significant sagging of skin and soft tissue.
Typical areas affected include the buttocks, abdomen, mons pubis, and thighs.
Using the Lockwood circular tightening method, these regions can be tightened either in one or in two separate sessions.

What can I expect from a body lift?

A body lift can significantly improve your body perception if you suffer from sagging skin after weight loss.
The incision runs like a belt around the body, positioned where it is typically covered by underwear.
To restore fullness to the buttocks, we perform an autoaugmentation – meaning we reuse tissue that would otherwise be removed to restore the natural shape and volume of the buttocks.

How is a body lift performed at our clinic?

After a detailed consultation and preoperative planning, we mark and document the incision lines together. We generally recommend performing the body lift in **two sessions** (front and back). On the day of surgery, you will be admitted to minimize waiting times. I personally go through all steps again and repeat the markings. Our surgical and anesthesia team will care for you throughout the procedure. After surgery, we provide the option to stay overnight for monitoring. A nurse will be by your side all night, and I remain personally nearby. After your postoperative check-up the next day, you can usually return home.

Advantages, disadvantages, and risks – are there alternatives?

The body lift reduces sagging soft tissue in **a maximum of two operations**. After the procedure, the buttocks appear **firmer and fuller**, the **abdomen flatter**, the **mons pubis smoother**, and the **thighs more toned**. Few procedures offer comparable overall improvement. Risks include **bruising** and, rarely, **bleeding**. We therefore perform the surgery under monitoring conditions for maximum safety. There are no real non-surgical alternatives to effectively reduce large amounts of soft tissue.

What should be considered after a body lift?

**Compression garments** should be worn for about **6 weeks** to achieve the best possible results. When absorbable sutures are used, **no stitch removal** is necessary. Patients are generally **socially and professionally active again after 7 days**. **Sports** can be resumed carefully after **4 weeks**, and **showering** is possible from **day 2** after surgery.
