Chest Masculinization

Chest Masculinization

Why Undergo Chest Masculinization?

The chest, after successful hormone therapy, is often the most visible part of the body that still reflects the undesired gender.
A man wants to be clearly perceived as male in society.

What Can I Expect from Chest Masculinization (Mastectomy) at Our Clinic in Oldenburg?

The surgical approach is similar to that used in treating gynecomastia (enlarged male breasts).
Depending on breast size, different techniques can be applied to achieve the desired reduction.
Our preferred method combines liposuction of the glandular tissue with tightening around the areola.
Even when larger volumes are removed, the skin is pleated around the areola (a technique called plissé).
Over time, the skin smooths out naturally, and any slightly widened scar can be refined later under local anesthesia.
This avoids broad scars under the chest and results in a more aesthetic, masculine contour.
The nipple is reduced and repositioned along the lower pectoral line, shaped to resemble the male oval form.

How Does the Female-to-Male Chest Surgery Work at Our Clinic?

Before surgery, a detailed **consultation and medical evaluation** take place to plan the procedure. We tailor the surgical technique precisely to your anatomy and goals. On the day of surgery, everything is scheduled to avoid long waiting times. Dr. Million reviews the plan again, marks the incision lines, and ensures you are well prepared. The procedure takes place in our own operating theater, followed by **one overnight stay** for safety. Our nurses and anesthesia team monitor you throughout the night, and Dr. Million remains on-site for postoperative care. After a final check-up the following morning, you can usually leave the clinic.

Advantages, Risks, and Alternatives of Female-to-Male Chest Surgery

The result is a **flatter and firmer chest contour**. We recommend an overnight stay after major breast surgery to monitor for potential bleeding. This type of **gender-affirming surgery is essentially irreversible**, so it should be carefully considered. An alternative for some patients is wearing a **compression top**.

Postoperative Care and Recovery

A **compression top** should be worn for about **6 weeks** after the operation to achieve the best result. Dissolvable sutures eliminate the need for removal. Most patients can return to **work or social activities within 5–7 days**. **Sports** may be resumed cautiously after **6 weeks**, and **showering** is allowed from the **second day post-surgery**.
