Nipple Correction
Nipple Correction
What is nipple correction?
Nipple correction is a general term describing surgical procedures that modify the nipple or areola.
These procedures are performed on an outpatient basis in our clinic or combined with larger breast surgeries described in previous chapters.
Inverted Nipple Correction
The most common procedure is the inverted nipple correction.
In this condition, connective tissue septa pull the nipple inward, causing it to retract and become hidden.
For many affected women, this creates a significant aesthetic concern, and it can sometimes lead to breastfeeding difficulties.
During the short surgical procedure, the fibrous tissue strands are released, and the nipple is fixed in its natural position with an internal suture.
The incision is made along the areolar border, making the scar barely visible.
In most patients, breastfeeding ability is preserved after surgery.
Nipple Hypertrophy
The shape and size of the nipple or areola may change over time.
Overly large or protruding nipples can be disturbing both aesthetically and physically.
Surgical reduction of the nipple is straightforward and yields long-lasting results with maintained sensitivity.
Reconstruction of Nipple and Areola
If the nipple has been lost due to congenital absence or prior surgery, it can be reconstructed through a local flap procedure.
The areola may be recreated using skin from the eyelid, groin, or alternatively, by medical tattooing to achieve a natural appearance.
Dr. Million will gladly advise you on nipple correction during a personal consultation.
